History of Junior ROTC
- The Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) was organized under authority of the National Defense Act of 1916. The most recent amendments concerning JROTC are contained in Public Law 88-647, 88th Congress, dated 13 October 1964, under the title of “The Reserve Officers Training Corps Vitalization Act of 1964.” Current law and statuary provisions under which the Department of Army and Navy provide instruction to high school students is Title 10, United States Code, Chapter 102.
History of the Putnam City West Patriot Battalion
- The Patriot Battalion was officially organized by the U.S. Army as a National Defense Cadet Corps at Putnam City West High School in August, 2012 for the 2012-2013 School Year. In July 2013, the Army re-designated the Patriot Battalion as a fully funded JROTC.
